south of Yellowstone

Okay, I can’t leave Yellowstone National Park without a picture of some of the buffalo. I came upon a herd that clearly knew they owned the road. So I stopped and waited and waited and… This huge buffalo sauntered by about 10 feet from the car. I must say that it was one of the few animals I have seen in the wild that I would call a truly majestic beast. I could hear its breathing as it munched the grass on the side of the road. I was glad I was in the car but not sure it would be enough protection if he decided to send me back to my maker. Thankfully the grass was more interesting than me.

This small gallery is from my travels south of Yellowstone Park on my way home. They are not from Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks. They are from scenes south of these Parks and into western Wyoming.

After two days of intense shooting and a short night, my brain was pretty cooked. Yet the desire to see and work on my nascent skills kept me looking.

These images are the last of this photo op before my brain said enough, and my soul said it was time to go home.

    1. They can be aggressive, and each year we hear of someone getting too close and getting run over. This time they just wandered by, munching on what was left of the grass.
